You can’t miss the new signs against human trafficking at Marty and Lake Andes! Human trafficking is happening. Victims are transported and recruited and groomed through this area. The South Central Coalition Against Human Trafficking has erected new signs to encourage people to be aware Pictured here beside one of the the signs are Fr. Jim Friedrich, Andrea Soulek, Sr. Pat Mylott; Derrick Marks, the photographer, is in the foreground. Not pictured are Gail Hubbeling, Ronni Knudsen, Lori Bouza, Kim Archambeau, Debbie Houseman.
There was plenty of work and money put into these signs. The Catholic Community Foundation of Eastern South Dakota donated $2,000 for these projects. The Women’s Resource Center in Lake Andes donated $600. Fr. Jim donated many, many hours and recruited volunteers to erect the signs and put solar lights on them.
The Marty signs were partially destroyed by the heavy winds in May. Fr. Jim and a volunteer lined the sign letters and erected the signs in a sturdier fashion.
