NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK

By

Libraries = Strong Communities: National Library Week April 8-12, 2019. National Library Week is a time to recognize the contributions of the Nation’s libraries

Reported by Anne-Marie Podhradsky

to the communities they serve. Nationwide libraries are joining in the celebration with local events. The Wagner Library is hosting a book sale Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A great selection of gently used books by popular authors will be available. There will also be some free books and magazines to choose from. Please use the east door and remember that for safety purposes the parking lot is roped off after 3:00 pm.

Patrons are encouraged to take advantage of the fine free courtesy being offered throughout

the week. Overdue materials can be returned free of charge during this time. Patrons are welcome to use the eagle book return on the west side of the building. The multipurpose eagle is also a collection site for worn, faded, torn or dirty American Flags. The collected flags are respectfully retired in a burning ceremony conducted by local Boys Scouts.

The Wagner Public Library is supported by a volunteer board of trustees. These trustees believe in the value libraries bring to the community. They work with the library staff to offer the best service possible to our local patrons. They promote a library that is user friendly with free access go books and online resources for the town. Serving on the Wagner Board this past year were President Jan Twitero, Vice President Guriene McGuire,

Treasurer Brad Roth, City Council Representative John Tyler and Trustees Sylvia Beeson, Sue Larson and Fran Podzimek.

The library board and staff encourage you to visit your library and see what’s new and take part in the celebration!
