Andes Central held their annual National Honor Society (NHS) Induction Ceremony on Friday, February 28 in the high school auxiliary gym. Four members of the sophomore class Marin Bultje, Callie Bergin, Madelyn Janis and Madeline Derry were inducted in the Andes Central NHS Chapter.

To become a member of the National Honor Society at Andes Central, students are invited to apply if they have a grade point average (GPA) that is above a certain threshold. In order to be considered to be selected to join the NHS, an application must be filled out along with an essay about how the student qualifies to join under each of the five main NHS pillars. The five main pillars of the National Honor Society are scholarship, character, service, leadership and citizenship.

Andes Central is unique in their NHS as they allow sophomores to become prospective members, giving them more time to be a part of the organization instead of the way that other local schools do it only allowing juniors and seniors to be a part of NHS. The Andes Central National Honor Society does different fund raisers/activities throughout the year including the Haunted Hallway, Winter Activity Day, charging fees of canned goods or personal hygiene items that are then donated to ROCS and the Andes Central Homework Room.
