There is a new business on Wagner’s Main Street located in the Frei Insurance Building. MoonFarma Herbal Apothecary opened its pop-up shop door November 1st. Owner and operator, Ashton Blaha is excited to be able to bring her passion of handmade all natural beauty and wellness products to her hometown.
MoonFarma Herbal Apothecary has been operating since 2016. Ashton used a play on words to come up with the name MoonFarma. The moon represents her interest in astrology and the farma represents her interest in naturopathy. She had always wanted to make her own products and began doing so as a hobby. After her friends and family started asking her to make products for them, Ashton saw the potential to turn her hobby into a business.
Ashton studied herbalism and medicine making at the Santa Cruz Permaculture for two years. During her studies, she learned about over 500 herbs. After receiving her certificate in the program, she decided to take her knowledge and love of plants to the next level and create her own product lines. Not only does Ashton enjoy creating homemade alternative health products, but she has a passion for educating people. She loves being able to share her knowledge of herbs with others in hopes of empowering other people to take charge of their own health and explore natural and alternative medicines.
MoonFarma is very unique. Ashton handmakes all her soaps in small batches and is always creating new and fun seasonal soaps. She also carries a handmade line of health and wellness and bath and body products including aromatherapy, candles, kids bath crayons, bath bombs, body oils, scrubs, teas, salves, balms and tinctures. All of her products are non-toxic and she forages for many of the ingredients locally depending on what is seasonally available. Recently, Ashton came out with a botanical skin care line for her store and has seasonal scented soaps such as sandalwood and vanilla and forest pine.
Ashton has also added wellness consultations and foot detoxes to services that her store offers. These services go hand in hand with Ashton’s continuing education of studying naturopathy with a school in Indiana.
When asked why she wanted to try a pop-up shop in Wagner, Ashton said that she thought it would be a great place to try a brick-and-mortar store. She has her online store, but felt that Wagner had a need and want for natural alternative health products.
Ashton was born and raised in Wagner and is the daughter of Roger and Angela Blaha. She is a graduate of Wagner Community School. Ashton also has a full-time job as human resources manager for a start-up company based out of California. When she is not working either job, she enjoys hiking, rock climbing, boating and just being outside in nature.
MoonFarma Herbal Apothecary store hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. or by appointment. Her shop will be open for the Wagner Parade of Lights and Ashton will be at many of the local holiday events and craft fairs in the area.
Congratulations on your pop-up shop and we hope that it will become a permanent fixture in the Wagner community.
