Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion organizations in Wagner have decided to cancel the annual Memorial Day Program. In light of the fact that the majority of those who attend the program are in the high risk for infection category, it was determined that it isn’t worth the risk of infecting those veterans and their families.

Although there will not be a formal program this year, please take a few minutes on Memorial Day to personally pay tribute to those who have defended our freedom.

VFW and Auxiliary will be placing small American stick flags on graves of veterans at the Wagner cemetery. The flags were donated by Wagner Building & Supplies Ace Hardware store. The flags will be placed on the graves the week prior to Memorial Day and removed the week after. If family members wish to keep the flag that is on their loved ones grave, they may do so.

The American Legion and VFW also intend to put the flags up in the park and along Highway 46 and Main Street for the holiday weekend.
