Gather your friends and family for a “Retro” 2023 Fish Days celebration June 2, 3 & 4! Fish Days provides three days of fun for everyone! One of our biggest events is the Mr. Carp & Ms. Bullhead contest and ready to compete for the 2023 titles are the Mr. Carp & Ms. Bullhead Candidates. In order for them to achieve this honor, they need your help! Vote for your favorite candidate by tossing some money in their bucket. They will be seen at various events during Fish Days and may have buckets at local businesses. The candidates who raise the most money will be crowned Mr. Carp & Ms. Bullhead Saturday night during the street dance! Your contribution helps pay for the Fish Days events we all love to attend, so please participate in the tradition!

If you are lucky enough to be chosen for this prestigious honor for Fish Days (or just simply volunteer yourself), you would be helping Lake Andes carry on the tradition of providing a fun filled weekend. When Marvin Gall heard this year’s theme was “Retro”, he thought who would be a better candidate than himself ?! Marvin has been a Fish Days Parade icon since Fish Days was revived back in 1988. He was devastated when he lost his Mr. Carp dream in 1995 to Randy Winckler, but now is ecstatic about his a second chance for the title! He said he plans to power through his competition for the win!

Hayden Stluka begged for his chance to outdo his dad who was crowned the 2022 Mr. Carp and his brother Seth, the 2021 Mr. Carp. Seth is currently the title holder for the most money raised by any Mr. Carp and his dad is part of “the most money raised by the Mr. Carp candidates”, BUT Hayden is not fazed at all by the stats. Hayden said “I like a good challenge” and is confident he will be the ultimate Stluka winner when he captures this year’s crown!

Ryan Frederick told us he wanted a second chance at capturing the crown. He has been strategizing since he lost his run in 2013. He feels since he is the Mayor of Lake Andes, the Mr. Carp crown will fit nicely! When asked about his strategy, he said he will bring home the crown with the biggest bucket in town!

MS. BULLHEAD CANDIDATES

Jenni Hart also thought the “Retro” theme was made for her! She has been sad ever since she lost to Rachel (Bergin) Kaczor in 2009 by only $40. She will be brewing up her best plan to create a win! She will not let the Ms. Bullhead title slip away this time! Emma Stotz said she is ready for this challenge! Emma has many talents and will use them all to collect as many votes as she can! She is determined to outlast her competition to be crowned Ms. Bullhead!

Marcia Bierman has been counting her chickens, waiting for her chance for the title. She has been collecting votes with the eggs each day and is positive she is already ahead of her competition! She is sure she will have enough votes in by Saturday night for the win!
