September 1911

The wedding of Rudolph Engel and Kathryn Hebner occurred at the groom's home Sept. 14th. Rudolph runs the dray line in Tyndall and Kathryn is a successful teacher.

September 1935

Mrs. Hollingsworth returned home from Vermillion where she has been caring for her sick mother all summer.

SCHOOL NEWS--Friday was the first pep meeting. Woodrow Kelley gave an earnest talk in behalf of the football team. Grace Luke represented the girls. Mr. McIntosh gave the coach's opinion. Cheers were led by Agnes VanderVoort and Pepper Berndt. The football team won 6-0 over Geddes.

Senior News--Will the Freshmen please be more quiet passing between classes so they don't disturb the Senior's sleep?

Words of the Wise--If hot air were music, some people would be a whole brass band.

September 1964

Avon upset a favored Armour team 13-0 at Armour.

Gay Lynn Harmacek was honored on her 3rd birthday at her home. Cake and ice cream were served by her mother and grandmother, Mrs. Steve Merkwan.

Dean Merkwan is a member of the DWU Football team. He is a fullback with the Tigers.

Mr. and Mrs. Dave Pudwill returned from a three week trip to California.

Lisa Muller was honored on her birthday with a Sunday dinner at her home.

The Journalism staff will publish a page in the Clarion Bi-weekly. Sandra Pudwill returned as the Editor with Kristi Borinas Assistant. The advisor is Mrs. Thompson. Sports--Jon Bertus and Jim Winckler and Features--Tony Eben.

September 1986

Jennifer Bridge was honored on her 2nd birthday at the home of her grandparents, the Leonard Harmaceks.

John Fathke Jr. completed training in the Army at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO.

The Jolly Roger school page's editor is Stacy Siewert with Co Ed. Ann Myers. Shyne Thaler is the advisor.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT--Paul Pudwill--he drives the "green bomb" and likes a hamburger, Dr. Pepper, and ice cream.

Teacher Feature--Mr. Russ Bechtold said he moved to Avon in 1966 and remains here because he "likes the kids and has no desire to live anywhere else".

Mr. and Mrs. LaVelle Meiers and Lucille Sattler were visiting the Dennis Meiers family in Colorado Springs.

Lisa Pudwill and Warren Ronke were married Sept. 6th at the Avon Baptist Church. They will be living in Watertown.

Alcoholic beverages are not allowed on school property during ball games. Police will be on the grounds.

The Community Bank will be holding an Open House on Saturday in their new brick building on Main Street.

Mr. and Mrs. Mike Berndt of Box Elder visited in the Junior Schaefer home.
