Dakota Dunes Scrambled, as Corps of Engineers gave 25,000- 3,0000 residents five days to evacuate their homes.

Heavy rains and strong winds came through the area on Monday night, a large tree was knocked down like a little twig. Early evening,, the fire whistle went off, warning area folks of severe weather. A Tornado warning was issued for Avon and southeastern Charles Mix. According to KELO TV, a tornado was spotted near Avon.

Since the water was released from all the Dams in South Dakota being upstream and wiping out anything in its way, crowds, gathered to watch the historic release.

June 1911

John Stout was in town Tuesday. He left for Mitchell where he and his family will make their future home.

The Perkins Pumpkin Rollers won over Avon eight to seven on Sunday.

The Wagner baseball team played the Packers. When the dust settled, the score was 9-3 in favor of Wagner

Mrs. Norman Bangert was honored at a shower. 65 friends gathered south of John Kocmick's farm where the highway turns Dante.

Leonard Hebner came from Rapid City to stay with Mr. and Mrs. Neil Hornster, his sister, at their farm south of town.

Mr. and Mrs. Ephraim Berndt are the happy parents of a baby boy.

Myron Pudwill graduated from the Dental College at Lincoln and will intern in Philadelphia.

The Mets picked up three more wins over Andes 2-7, Scotland 6-3 and Tripp 17-8.

Kenneth Wagner was hired as Avon's high school coach for the next school year.

Seven ladies of the First Presbyterian Church motored to Camp Koda where they spent the day preparing the cabins for Bible Camp.

Leading batting averages for the Mets are: Mike Mudder .375, Mark Mudder .368, Todd Rauch .292 and Ray Johnson .285 for the season thus far.

The Teeners won 21-4 over Tripp. Scott Brandt was the pitcher. Dan Ridgeway had a home run.

The Pee Wees lost 15-4 to Tyndall. Travis Rauch was the leading hitter. They won the Lesterville tourney. Hitters were Scott Voigt, Jeff Namminga, Jason Thompson and Terry Becker.

The Midgets won 16-5 over Tyndall. Mike Voigt was the pitcher. Hitters were Jeff Hento, Eric Knudson and Matt Eggers.
