1911 - 110 Years Ago

The 1911 Ball Team will be managed by R. Sawyer with Harold Reaney as Captain. The new name for the baseball team is the Avon Packers.

Avon is going to have a team that will open your mouth and knock your socks off.

An auto driver was giving some school teachers a spin and lost his presence of mind and bumped into a fence. Of course you can't blame him.

Oscar Rauch and wife, Mrs. Hahn, John Pritzkau and wife took in the musical concert at Yankton on Saturday. The Milwaukee ran an extra back after the concert.

R. Sawyer is putting in a bowling alley in about 3 weeks.

The Myrtle and Mawhinney Schools had a kittenball game on Friday. Mawhinney won 24-12.

A baby daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. William Nieuwenhuis on April 27th.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Smith have moved into the house vacated by Jerry Beavin.

1964 - 57 Years Ago

The Athletic Banquet honored 63 boys and girls. The A Club is starting a new award this year and hope to make it an annual award called the Best Fan Award. The first Best Fan Award was presented to Mr. Tom Pier by the A Club president, Gerald Winckler. The Annual Clarion award for Sportsmanship was given to Dave Brandt. Special Awards went to Dave Brandt for track, Al Wiebenga for football, Doug Johnson for basketball, and Ken Ulrich for free throws.

Opening for Tiny's Drive In Service at Northvue Café will be Corn dogs for 10 cents and taverns for 15 cents.

Paula Reiff was honored on her birthday with a party for 17 little friends.

1986 - 35 Years Ago

The Lions Fun Fest grossed a new record of $3,563 with more donations still coming in.

Nancy Taubert and Ken Glaser of Sioux City were married on April 12th at the Presbyterian Church in Avon.

Tyler Tjeerdsma was honored on his 3rd birthday with a family dinner.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT - Don Mudder - he enjoys eating roast beef and the song "Four in the Morning".

Song DEDICATIONS - "How to be a Millionaire" - Jon Hento. "The Entertainer" - Lyle Reiff. This year's Prom Theme is "You're The Inspiration."
