LITTLE MISSOURI VALLEY CONFERENCE

On Tuesday, May 3, Wagner’s tracksters competed in the Little Missouri Valley Conference meet held in Parkston. Many personal best times/distances/heights were reached this day as we were finally blessed with ideal conditions.

The girls would win five events at this meet. Ashlyn Koupal would win the high jump by ascending to a height of 5’5”, one inch better than the jump with which she won last year’s state meet.

Elizabeth Woods ran her best time of the year in the 100 hurdles, winning with a time of 16.67.

Shalayne Nagel brought home two gold medals as she captured both the 200 and 400 meter titles with times of 28.01 and 1:04.17.

The 4x100 relay team of Alcista Dion, Eve Zephier, Woods, and Nagel won with a time of 52.89.

Other placers for the girls were:

Shot Put: Emma Yost- 35’5” (2nd), Macy Koupal- 29’ 5 ¾” (5th)

Discus: Emma Yost- 109’5” (2nd)

High Jump: Kya Kjeldgaard-4’4” (5th)

Pole Vault: Alcista Dion- 8’3”(2nd)

100 Hurdles: Lydia Yost- 19.26(5th), Cadee Nelson- 19.50 (6th)

100 Dash: Alcista Dion- 13.46 (2nd)

300 Hurdles: Elizabeth Woods-

52.02 (3rd), Lydia Yost- 57.34 (6th)

200 Dash: Eve Zephier- 29.32 (6th)

3200 Run: Presley Slaba- 14.36.53 (4th)

The boys were able to win four events on the day. Jhett Breen won the 300 hurdles, bettering his previous best by over two seconds as he finished with a time of 43.19 and making it onto the leader board as he now has the seventh best time in Wagner history and becomes the second Breen on the list in this event as brother Mitch sits at number four with time of 42.06.

The other first place finishes were all relays. The 4x800 team of Glen Cournoyer, Henry Hayward, Toby Zephier, and Riley Roberts ran an 8:59.82.

The 4x100 team of Matt Link, Gannon Knebel, Jhett Breen, and Toby Zephier ran a 46.76.

The 4x400 team of Toby Zephier, Riley Roberts, Lael Young, and Glen Cournoyer ran a 3:45.73. Other placers were:

Shot Put: Parker Petry- 37’3” (3rd)

High Jump: Camden Roth- 5’8” (2nd), Javian Pesicka- 5’4” (4th)

Long Jump: Matt Link- 17’ 10 ½” (2nd), Owen Bekanich- 16’ 9 ½” (5th)

Triple Jump: Vince Bechen- 35’ 1 ¼” (5th)

Pole Vault: Jhett Breen- 10’0” (2nd), Karstyn Lhotak- 9’6” (5th)

110 Hurdles: Jackson Rolston- 18.57 (3rd)

100 Dash: Matt Link- 11.70 (2nd)

4x200 Relay: Owen Bekanich, Ted Slaba, Treyson Zephier, Gabe Houseman- 1:49.13 (5th)

1600 Run: Glen Cournoyer- 4:59.98 (2nd)

400 Dash: Lael Young- 54.86 (3rd), Henry Hayward- 56.01 (5th), Brayden Kreber- 57.36 (6th)

300 Hurdles: Jackson Rolston- 47.80 (3rd)
