Children’s Book Week is May 6-12th. The Lake Andes Library works to celebrate children each day that we are open. You may ask how we do this and I will try to explain.

The library provides after school and Saturday activities for any child who comes to the library, these activities include: safe computer time (45 min-1 hr. time limit), being read to or checking out library books, 1000 books before Kindergarten, robots, Legos, coloring or drawing materials, puzzles, puppets, learning kits, book kits, magnetic building blocks and special learning activities.

The library now checks out or lets children use physical activity items such as skateboards and scooters, soccer balls, basketballs, jump ropes, baseballs and bats and gloves just to name a few.

The library provides a nutritious snack to any child who stops at the library.

Summer programming will begin for children ages 6-18 on June 10th and runs for five days a week for six weeks. Summer reading promotions are an important part of summer programming.

So yes, the library does celebrate children every day.
