The Lake Andes Public Library is pleased to announce that we are one of the South Dakota libraries that will be part of the “Check Out South Dakota State Parks program. This opportunity is made possible through a partnership between South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP) and the South Dakota State Library.

The Check Out South Dakota State Parks program gives library patrons a great opportunity to enjoy the state parks throughout SD. Library patrons can check out a state park pass from the Lake Andes Public Library, free of charge, for up to three days.

You may ask how does this work? Before you can check out a park pass you must be a patron in good standing with the library and have a valid library card. How do I get a library card? To qualify for a free card you must prove 1 of two things: that you live in Lake Andes, by providing a water bill from the City, or if you live outside Lake Andes that you reside in the Andes Central School District. If you live outside the city limits, or Andes Central School District you can purchase a card for a onetime $10 fee.

The Lake Andes Public Library has 2 (two) park passes. We will not be able to replace lost passes. The checkout process will be on a first come first served basis. You may not extend the 3 days of checkout. If you are late returning the pass your library card will be considered invalid and you will not be able to check out a pass for 2 weeks. A lost pass will not be replaced by the local or state library.

This is a new program for the library to manage and we are hoping it will be a great experience for all involved.
