The Library has acquired books promoted by the 9/11 Memorial Museum. These books are written to help to inform all of us who remember the attacks and those who were not even born yet about a part of history that we should never forget. The first book I want to tell you about is “The Memory of Things” by Gae Polisner. “The Memory of Things” tells a stunning story of friendship and first love and of carrying on with our day-to-day living in the midst of world-changing tragedy and unforgettable pain- it tells a story of hope.

The second book “Ground Zero A Novel of 9/11” by Alan Gratz, is a story in time for the twentieth anniversary of 9/11, master storyteller Alan Gratz delivers a pulse-pounding and unforgettable take on history and hope, revenge and fear-and the stunning links between the past and present.

Next the graphic novel “In the Shadow of the Fallen Towers” by Don Brown turns to one of the most defining tragedies of our time: September 11, 2001. Profound, troubling and deeply moving, In the Shadow of the Fallen Towers bears witness to our history-and the many ways it shapes our present.

The last book for this week is “Branches of Hope, The 9/11 Survivor Tree” by Ann Magee is intertwined stories – one in words and one in pictures – show how the Survivor Tree’s strength echoed the hope of a nation after harrowing events in New York City in 2001.
