Update on Rail to Trail bike path Platte to Tabor:

The original plan was to build a path from Platte to Ravinia, plan failed. Second plan was to do five miles from Lake Andes to Ravinia, plan failed. The third plan is to do a feasibility study. Promoters plan to apply for a grant (the payer money) to pay for this study. This will be a 40-60 grant. If the study costs two hundred thousand, the promoters will have to have eighty thousand cash, no pledges qualify. As of January 6, no action has been taken to apply for grant.

At the two public meeting I attended in Charles Mix County, it was very clear this project will divide our small communities. City people want the trail. Landowners are concerned with having strangers ride through their private property.

In Bon Homme the promoters haven't had the courtesy to have a public meeting to see if landowners support this project.
