Update on Tyndall-Platte Rail & Trail: I attended a meeting in Lake Andes August 27th where engineers who will be doing the feasibility study gave their plan on the process.

During the meeting we received a call from Pierre with the following statement: (Any decision to allow a trail would require action by the SD State Railroad Board in an open meeting where the public could participate).

I have attended two meetings in Pierre with railroad board, they gave a red light to the project.

I attended a meeting in Pickstown on September 12 with friends of R&T. The main topic of the meeting was how to raise millions of dollars for the project. Only six people were at the meeting, very little interest.

The commissioners from Bon Homme County and Charles Mix County have voted no support, township supervisors - no support, Dist. III (possible grant money) - no support, landowners - very limited support, towns along the trail - very limited support, governor's office - no support.

Sometimes in life we have to accept defeat and move on with life. Ed Van Gerpen Bon Homme County Commissioner
