On Tuesday, July 2, Wagner’s Post 11 Legion team traveled to Dimock to take on Parkston.
Things just did not come together this night as Wagner would fall by the score of 7-3. Our pitching was decent, although a few less walks could have made it easier on our defense. The defense was solid. Errorless, in fact. Though there were a few plays that didn’t go down as errors that nonetheless should have been made that would have saved some runs. The bats need to come around. We had six hits and just couldn’t string enough together to mount many threats aside from a three run second inning which was aided by a Parkston error.
Carter Cournoyer started on the mound and went 4.2 innings. He allowed six earned runs on four hits while walking five and striking out six. Frank Soukup came on in relief and did a nice job of inducing a pop up that fell in shallow centerfield. He would allow one earned run on two hits while issuing one walk and striking out one.
At the plate for Wagner, Soukup, Hunter Loeffler, Matt Link, Christian Doom, Joey Cournoyer, and Tyler Tjeerdsma each collected one hit with Doom’s being a double. Soukup had the only RBI while Doom, Joey Cournoyer, and Landon Mudder scored the three Wagner runs.
