LAVENDER LANE DESIGN + BOUTIQUE

By
Alyssa Mathis

On June 1st Lavender Lane changed ownership. It is now owned and operated by Mackenzie Havranek with a slight name change to Lavender Lane Design + Boutique. Mackenzie has always been into fashion, clothing and being creative which is why purchasing Lavender Lane was a good fit for her. Havranek worked for the previous owner, Kara Frei, for almost a year before purchasing the business. There was a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 30th and grand opening on July 1st.

Havranek wants the focus of her business to be on a boutique where people can get dressy, cute, chic clothing. She wants to change people’s perspective on what a boutique is by offering good quality clothing at a reasonable price. She is constantly trying new vendors to see what would be the best fit for her boutique and the community. Privacy is important to Mackenzie and she values the privacy of her customers as well. She wants everybody to feel welcome and comfortable because her store has something for everyone.

She does plan to continue with the designing of shirts and fan gear. The store has a large variety of styles, sizes and colors of shirts on hand making the turn around for designing and making a shirt, if in stock, only two days. Mackenzie enjoys designing and is always open to working with and helping customers design new fun shirts. She will continue with Graphic T Tuesdays, where she posts the most popular current sellers on her Facebook site. There will be some changes coming soon as she plans to start putting together more mannequin fashion displays in the store windows. The store currently has three employees and is managed by Karli Kotab. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 9a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Mackenzie is a 2020 graduate of Wagner Community School. She is currently going to the University of South Dakota majoring in marketing with a minor in business. She enjoys hunting deer and spending time with animals, like her dog Dusty, in her free time. Congratulations and much success to you and your business, Lavender Lane Design + Boutique!
