Meet the new hair stylist at Town and Country Beauty Salon, Lauren Bastemeyer. Lauren is not foreign to Wagner as she grew up here until middle school. Even after moving to Bon Homme she came back to spend many Summers with her grandparents, Jim and Pam Bastemeyer.

Lauren went to hair school in Sioux Falls at Stewarts. Ever since she was a little girl she had always dreamed of being a hair stylist. Her grandparents would bring her with them to Town and Country Beauty Salon and she would play with the play vanity set they had while her grandma got her hair done. She even has pictures of her getting her hair cut by Doris Hosek when she was just a little tyke.

After graduating from Stewarts Lauren quickly realized the city life was not for her. She spontaneously decided to pick up and move back to small town Wagner to be with her grandparents. Vicki Koupal, owner of Town & Country had reached out to her grandmother asking about her. When Lauren knew she would be moving back she stopped by the salon to ask about a job and Vicki was happy to have a new, young stylist join their team.

Here are a few fun things to know about Lauren. She is 20 years old. Her favorite color is pink and her favorite movie is White Chicks. In the Summer you will find her at the river or camping. In the evenings she enjoys watching shows with her grandparents. Lauren is a very chill, 'go with the flow' kind of gal and family is her main priority. Since she has been back she has also been enjoying reconnecting with her old friends in the area after spending the last two years in Sioux Falls.

Her favorite thing to do with hair is full head colors. She really enjoys womens cuts and colors, but can do pretty much anything. She offers colors, highlights/lowlights, perms, mens and womens cuts, facial waxing and prom/wedding up-dos.

When asked how often she changes her own hair she said 'When I was in school, a lot.' She recently went back to her natural brunette color but she likes to switch between blonde and brunette frequently.

Since her first day on Monday she has been quite busy. During her first week at the salon she had anywhere from 5-8 appointments a day. She is ready to build up her clientele here in Wagner and is very excited for this new year and this new opportunity! She believes 2023 is going to be 'her year.'
