Lake Andes has a new City Finance Officer, Charlotte Pesicka, as of August 15th. Charlotte is a graduate of Andes Central School and was born and raised in Lake Andes. Previously, Charlotte had been working at the Andes State Bank for almost ten years and before that had worked for Buches doing bookkeeping for five years.

Pesicka’s previous work experience has prepared her well for the position. She knows the communityanditsmemberswell, has been working with numbers for years, and is very familiar with the accounts payable and billing systems that the city uses. The City Finance Officer position appealed to Charlotte in that it is something new where she can learn and broaden her skill set. She is currently learning and getting familiar with all of Lake Andes’ city rules and ordinances. Charlotte sees her most important job as the City Finance Officer is to make sure that the city of Lake Andes is running efficiently. Some of her duties in this role include overseeing all money going in and out of the city, payroll for city employees, managing projects, advising the city council, management of city employees and the city budget. With the city’s budget for 2024 already done, Charlotte’s days do not have a routine. Pesicka has a staff of one, Madonna Ishmael. Her office is currently getting ready for customer appreciation and the city’s upcoming parade of lights.

Charlotte’s predecessor, Debbie Houseman, left the office in excellent condition for Charlotte to take over and has been a great advisor to her in learning and in answering questions. Even though she has only been in the position for a few months, Charlotte is really enjoying it. She is learning new things about the city that she has always lived in and finding out that even though she has been a life-long resident of Lake Andes, there are a lot of things that she did not know about the city.

As of right now, Charlotte does not have any foreseeable changes to how the City Finance Office runs. Pesicka is currently working on implementing automatic bill payments for those that would be interested.

Charlotte has three children Rory, Lawrence and Zander with her significant other JR Kiyukan. When she has free time she enjoys spending time with her family, hunting deer, fishing and cooking.
