On Saturday, August 26th the Wagner JV and Varsity teams traveled to Parkston to compete in the first tournament of the year. The JV team finished the day 1-3. Losses came from Parkston (15-25, 23-25), McCook Central/Montrose (17-25, 25-22, 7-15), and Warner (25-20, 13-25, 9-15). Then ended the day with a win over Kimball/White Lake (25-18, 27-25). The Varsity team finished 3-1. They defeated Parkston (25-19, 26-24), McCook Central/Montrose (25-14, 25-13), and Kimbal/White Lake 25-18, 25-18). The only loss on the day was to a tough Warner program (8-25, 10-25).

For the varsity team, attack leaders on the day were Ashlyn Koupal (22 kills), Kya Kjeldgaard (19 kills), Aubrey Medricky (14 kills), Shona Kocer (13 kills) and Ravyn Medricky (11 kills). Senior setter Macy Koupal dished out 66 assists in the tourney. Leading the way in serving were M. Koupal 22 points/3 aces, Kocer 19 points/8 aces, Kjeldgaard 15 points/4 aces, A. Medricky (15 points/2 aces) and A. Koupal 13 points/2 aces). In the back court leading the defense were A. Koupal (33 digs), M. Koupal (20 digs), Kjeldgaard (19 digs), Madi Knebel (18 digs), and Braxton Nedved (11 digs). Up at the net leading blockers were Kocer (6), M. Koupal (3), A. Koupal (3), R. Medricky (3), Kjeldgaard (2) and A. Medricky (1).

The JV team was led by Hannah Holzbauer (14 kills) Brylie Link (11 kills), and Katrina Zephier (8 kills) on the day. Setter Kylin Insko earned 28 assists. Service leaders were Brylie Link (23 points/13 aces), Libby Kotab (21 points/18 aces), Brianna Fuchs (8 points/9 aces), Insko (8 points/9 aces), and Holzbauer (8 points/6 aces. Defensive leaders were Holzbauer (51 digs), Kotab (49 digs), Insko (19 digs) and Hayden Fischer (11 digs). Blocking leaders on the day were Link (4), Mateya Bruguier (2), and B. Fuchs (1) Congratulations to senior setter, Macy Koupal for earning All-Tournament Team honors.

Wagner Volleyball will host Mount Vernon/Plankinton on Tuesday, August 29th and travel to Chamberlain on Thursday, August 31st.
