LADY RAIDERS BRING HOME THE HARDWARE FROM THE CLASH

The Wagner Volleyball team traveled to Tyndall on Saturday, September 17th to take part in the Cavalier Clash which is a sixteen-team tournament. The Lady Raiders came ready to play and went 6-0 in the tournament. The girls played with focus and great energy and were crowned champions. Wagner faced Gayville-Volin (25-19, 25-9), AC/DC (25-13, 25-9), Alcester Hudson (25=14, 25-14) in pool play. The Raiders then moved into bracket play to face Platte/Geddes (25-18, 25-20), Elk-Point Jefferson (25-15, 25-17), and then met Bon Homme (25-17, 25-22) in the championship.

Up at the net Avari Bruguier led all attackers with 37 kills on the day. Shalayne Nagel put down 33 kills, Emma Yost and Shona Kocer each added 27, while Kya Kjeldgaard had 26 in the tourney. Setter Macy Koupal distributed the ball 134 times to her hitters on the day. Behind the service line E. Yost racked up 37 points/7 aces, M. Koupal added 33 points/7 aces, Nagel tallied 32 points/3 aces, Madi Knebel scored 30 points/5 aces, Bruguier served 24 points/4 aces and Kya Kjeldgaard had 11 points/2 aces. Defensively Bruguier led with 61 digs on the day. E. Yost dug up 46, Knebel picked up 45, Nagel grabbed 33, and Koupal had 32 in the tourney. Middle Blockers Kjeldgaard and Kocer led all blockers with 8 stops, Nagel added 7, M. Koupal had 4, E. Yost earned 3 and Bruguier had 1.

Senior Emma Yost earned her 1,000 career dig during the tournament. Congratulations to Emma on such a great accomplishment!

This week is homecoming for Wagner and the Lady Raiders will travel to Tyndall on Tuesday and will face Kimball-White Lake on Thursday.
