The Avon Lady Pirates competed at the GPC Conference on Saturday, February 14, where they faced Irene/Wakonda and came up short in a hard-fought contest, 42-47. Rilyn Thury led the Pirates with 20 points, along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Jordyn Voigt pulled down 9 rebounds on the night, while Lexi Vanderlei and Thury each added 6 boards. As a team, the Lady Pirates shot 30% from the field, connecting on 15 of 50 attempts. They were 28% from beyond the arc (8 of 29), 33% on two-point attempts (7 of 21), and 67% from the free throw line, sinking 4 of 6. Avon committed 13 turnovers in the contest. Despite the loss, the Lady Pirates battled throughout and continue to gain valuable experience heading into the final stretch of the season
