By

Jace Kuhlman, the son of Mike and Jamie Kuhlman was awarded a Build Dakota Scholarship in April. Jace originally applied because he saw what a good opportunity it would be for him and his future. Jace will be attending Mitchell Technical College this fall, enrolling in the Precision Ag Technology program.

The Precision Ag Technology program is a two-year program. As a precision agriculture technician, Jace will be installing, operating and troubleshooting equipment and machinery while also learn-ing about the agronomic impact in the field. Another facet of this program is that the students will collect, analyze and manage data from multiple sources. From the collected data, students will then use geographic information systems software to create variable rate maps to be used in seeding, spraying and fertilizer applications.

When asked why he chose the precision ag technology program, Jace said because it was a growing field with a lot of opportunities available. He is very interested in the technology aspect of the program. Jace’s sponsor for the Build Dakota Scholarship is Titan Machinery. The commitment that Jace will give Titan Machinery is working the summer between his first and second year of school and three years after he graduates. Jace was happy to partner with Titan Machinery as it is a place that he has been around his whole life. He knows there are a lot of good people that work there that will teach him invaluable on the job lessons that will enhance what he learns at college.

Jace is very thankful for the opportunity that he has been given, his sponsorship from Titan Machinery and for the technicians that he gets to work with every day. When asked where he sees himself in ten years, Jace said he hopes to be back working on the family farm and maybe doing some agronomy work in addition to farming. Jace is a 2024 graduate of Wagner Community School. In his free time, he enjoys fishing with his friends and playing guitar.
