It was a perfect night on a warm evening to kick off the first game of the Pirate Football season. On August 19, the Avon Pirates traveled to Colome, where they won the first game of theseasonagainsttheColome Cowboys.Thecrowd,cheerleaders, andplayerswerebusycheering on the boys. Paxton Bierema made the first touchdown of the evening. Kley Heumiller, one of the team captains, commented on the game stating, “Well, the first half was not good at all, the second half we got better. We have a lot of things to work on, but hopefully we're ready by Friday.”

At the end of the first game, thePirateswerevictoriouswith a final score of 30-6.
