J OHN 5:2-9 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool which is called Bethesda having five porches.
In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk of blind halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatever disease he had.
And a certain man was there which had an infirmity thirty eight years.
When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case. He saith unto him, wilt thou be made whole?
The impotent man answered, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool, but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked.
We see here a man who was searching for someone to put him in the water to be cleansed of his infirmity. He was not a young man, but he had that infirmity for 38 years, and when Jesus came along--he heard the words of Jesus he believed in the words Jesus said and consequently, he was cured--and made whole. He was found later in the temple.
This story also makes us think of people who are lost in sin. If something does not happen they will remain in their sin.
Today we are encouraged to step up to those who are lost, in need of healing and offer to them what Jesus did-the Word of God. The Word will set them free.
If they then believe the scriptures are willing--they receive the healing of their sin--by forgiveness and are granted eternal life with Jesus one day.
Are you willing to step up and tell them of their need of salvation thru the blood of Jesus--to be healed--saved.
In other words would you say to them--would thou be made whole?
