JOHN 5: 1-9 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
For an Angel went down at a certain season into the pool and troubled the water, whosoever then after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
And a certain man was there which had an infirmity thirty eight years.
When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case he saith unto him wilt thou be made whole?
The impotent man answered him. Sir, I have no man when the water is troubled to put me into the pool but while I am coming another steppeth down before me.
Jesus saith unto him, Arise take up thy bed and walk.
And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed and walked, and on the same day was the Sabbath.
Most of the time this scripture is preached about Jesus healing the man or about Him doing it on the Sabbath day when no work of any kind was allowed at this time.
But now it is about the man. Why did the man pick up his bed and walk?
He saw that Jesus had compassion for him.
He heard Jesus speak (the Word of God) The man listened to Jesus. The man believed the word of God. The man responded, believing and he acted on it by picking up his bed and walked.
This scripture is telling us to listen to the Word of God to respond to it faithfully, believing the Word of God.
Believing in the Word of God and trusting in the Word of God He will heal us from our sinful life and we will pick ourselves up and will walk in the newness of life.
You must have faith in Jesus.
How is your faith? Just Thought I'd Ask.
