GOD'S GIFT PROMISED
MATTHEW 1:18-21 "Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, Fear not to take Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins"(KJV)
MATTHEW 1:25 And he knew her not till she brought forth her firstborn son: And he called his name Jesus."(KJV)
Now this was the fulfillment of God's promise in JOHN 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."(KJV)
In this scripture we see that God gave His only begotten Son. This was God's gift to mankind, who could have everlasting life by believing in him.
Now we know that God never backs down on a promise. So here is another one given by Jesus himself JOHN 14:2,3 In my father's house there are many mansions If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself: that where I am, there you may be also."(KJV)
A follow-up to this promise is found in: ACTS 1:9-11 "And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, He was taken up: and a cloud received him, out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, Behold, two men stood by them in white apparel: which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand you gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus which is taken up from you into heaven, shall come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven"(KJV)
Now we are taught to watch for his return. When? We don't know, it took 4,000 years for Jesus to come and be born and now we must just wait.
1 Thessalonians 4: 16,17 tells how, but not when, "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."(KJV)
This day will come to pass just as all the other promises God has made.
What we should do is watch for His coming? Love, Honor and Serve Him while we wait.
Are you watching for His return?
