Job 1:1 ' There was a man in the land of UZ, whose name was Job: and that man was perfect ( blameless ) and upright, and one that feared (loved )God and eschewed evil.'(KJV) Eschewed means: to keep away from something harmful or bad, to shun it.
He had seven sons and thee daughters, he had seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, five hundred she asses and a very great household. He was the greatest of all men of the east.
God chose this righteous, faithful, honest, man--who loved the Lord and served Him all his life--to be an example of one--who would love the Lord and continue to serve Him regardless of his situation.
To prove his love for God-God allowed this righteous man to have some drastic problems into his life.
In one day--All his children died, fire burned up all his sheep, his camels were stolen.
Just thinking about what happened that day makes you think how dreadful that would be to Job.
But Job--fell down upon the ground, and worshiped the Lord and said, 'Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither' the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord.'
People today complain because they don't have something, But Job had it all, but instead of complaining, he blessed the Lord, his God.
It should be for us to determine to place more interest in the everlasting Lord, than in worrying about all our stuff--that will not last.
Job proved his love for the Lord by his personal reaction to his loss of everything and all in one day--by praising the Lord.
When you find yourself in a situation that seems wrong to you--remember God is watching you and sees how you react to your situation.
Will you only love and honor Him when things are going well or will you still love and honor Him when things are not doing so well.
Will God say about you that you are upright and blameless and hate all evil.
We should all live our life and work toward hearing Him say that about you.
So, what is He saying about you?
