BEWARE OF THE LEAVEN
By
Submitted By Dr. James Schirtzinger, D.d. Pastor/founder Of The Grace Baptist Church, Lake Andes Since 1988

Matthew 16:5-12 "And when the disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.6) Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. 7)And they reasoned among themselves, saying, it is because we have taken no bread. 8) Which when Jesus perceived, He said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread? 9) Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? 10) Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up? 11) How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees? 12) Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of the bread, but the doctrine (teachings) of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees."(KJV)

This was a warning from Jesus that false doctrines (teachings) will be brought up, and for them to be aware of them.

His warning to His disciples is the very same warning to us today.

There are so many false teachings going on today it is nearly impossible to count them all.

False teachings are lies--led by Satan to cause people to not believe and follow the Word of God.

Many of them are so close to the truth that if the real truth is not known--they are believed by many unknowing people.

Jesus warns against these teachings.

The only real way to decipher the difference between the true Word of God and the false doctrines (teachings)---is to know the truth in the first place, given to us in the Bible, to study and know the truth which is spelled out in our Bible.

Well how do we do it? Attend Church when the doors are open and learn from preaching the truth. Read your Bible everyday--and spend time in study of the Word of God---this will keep you from falling for the doctrines(teachings) offered by false teachers.

Are you aware of the leaven of false teachers?
