Just Thought I'd Ask
WHAT WILL HE SAY ABOUT YOU?
PSALM 119:33-36 " Teach me , O Lord, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end. Give me understanding, and I shall keep the law; Yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart. Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight. Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness."(KJV)
PSALM 119 is a long PSALM of David, it is 176 verses long. Much can be learned for David's plea to God to improve his life in these verses 33-36, we read that David is requesting the Lord to teach him the ways that would make him more pleasing to the Lord. David is saying, teach me, and I will do it until I die. Help me to understand what you want of me and I will do it with my whole heart. Give me the directions so that it will follow the commandments, because I enjoy doing what You want me to do. Direct my heart to do Thy ways and not to fall into evil covetousness.
It would be good for us if we would have a real true desire to be taught the statutes of God and determine to obey them the rest of our life. This we get through preaching.
We should ask God for understanding of the Law, this again we get through preaching and Bible Study. Then when we know God's will we should determine to do His will with our whole heart. We should ask God for His guidance in the way to follow the path of His commandments and do it willingly with His blessings and enjoy serving Him His way.
We should ask God to inspire our hearts to do His will, seek His grace and lean on the Holy Spirit's guidance to keep us faithful and away from covetousness.
If we would seriously ask God for these instructions for our life, as David did, we would be pleasing to the Lord and be blesses of Him.
The Lord thought of David as "the apple of His eye". What will He say about you?
