JUNIOR/SENIOR LEGION TEAMS WEEKLY RECAP

TEAMS HOST PARKSTON AT HOME
By

On Tuesday, July 8, the Post 11 teams were right back at it as they played host to Parkston.

Dominic Doom took the ball for Wagner and he pitched a solid three innings. Unfortunately, the defense didn’t compliment him as Parkston used ten Wagner errors to score 14 runs, only one of those being earned. My goodness. Doom would pitch three innings giving up nine runs, one earned, on six hits and three walks while striking out five. Colton Zephier then came on and the defense showed no partiality as all five runs he surrendered were unearned. Colton gave up four hits, walked one and struck one out.

Wagner’s only offense in this one came as Javian Pesicka led off with a walk, stole second, advanced to third on wild pitch, and then scored on a Doom groundout. Pesicka also had the lone Wagner hit for the game.

In the second game, Frank Soukup would get the ball and spin a dandy as he went the distance to earn the win as Wagner prevailed by a 4-2 score.

Wagner got one run in each of the first three innings. In the first, Soukup reached via an error and would be driven in by a Carter Cournoyer double. In the second frame, we used another error as Beau Otte got on base. He would steal second and then Soukup helped himself with a single up the middle to plate Otte. In the third, the Cournoyers led off with back-to-back singles. After a fielder’s choice and a K, it was Otte’s turn to drive in a run as he did so with an opposite field single.

Parkston used a lead-off walk, a stolen base and a single to get their first run in the fourth. Wagner would answer with a run in the 6th as Joey Cournoyer had a bases loaded infield single to tack on an insurance run. Parkston did not go quietly in the final inning as they scored a run and put the tying run on base. But a strikeout and a foul pop out ended the game in Wagner’s favor.

Soukup threw seven innings allowing two earned runs on two hits and two walks while striking out eight.

Joey Cournoyer was the offensive leader as he got three hits while scoring one run and driving one run in. Carter Cournoyer had two hits and an RBI. Soukup had two hits an RBI and a run scored. Beau Otte had a hit, an RBI, and a run scored. Octavian Kocer walked and scored and Pesicka collected one hit.
