JUNIORS READ THE GREAT GATSBY, WATCH MOVIE
The Great Gatsby, an American classic novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, was recently read by the junior English class. After weeks spent reading the book, answering the questions, and taking the test, the class watched the 2013 movie version starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby. Jessica Streit said, “The book was dry, but I didn't really like the movie either because of who played the main characters.”
The junior class noticed a few differences while watching the movie. Students noticed that the movie skipped the funeral entirely, a dramatic event in the book. Also, Pammy never met Gatsby in the movie, whereas her appearance in the book was traumatic for our protagonist. Towards the end of the movie, the class realized there were a couple characters missing. There was no Michaelis, the coffee shop owner, and no Henry Gatz, Gatsby’s dad.
