On Friday, June 27. the Alexandria Angels Post 41 Junior and Senior Legion teams traveled to Wagner for two games against Post 11.
The juniors were up first and they would ride some hot bats enroute to a 15-7 victory. Wagner’s hitters collected 12 hits. Colton Zephier and Jamian Medicine Horn each had two with one of Medicine Horn’s being a double. Zephier also drove in two runs and scored a run while Medicine Horn scored twice and knocked one in. Avery Medicine Bear also had two hits He would score a run and collect an RBI. Javian Pesicka and Edward Ulrich each had a hit and an RBI. Dominic Doom had a double, an RBI and three walks. Trey Segura had a hit, a walk, two runs scored, and two RBI. Beau Otte had an infield single, two walks, and scored four times. Brannon Bruguier came through on his birthday with a big bases loaded double that he rapped over the leftfielder’s head for two RBI and would eventually come around to score.
Zephier was the starting pitcher. He went 5.1 innings giving up five runs, all earned, on eight hits and three walks while striking out seven. Medicine Bear finished things up giving up two earned runs on three hits and two walks with two Ks.
The nightcap was more of a pitcher’s duel as Carter Cournoyer would battle Alexandria’s Tyler Sanderson. The game was scoreless heading into the 5th inning when Alexandria used three hits and two errors to plate three runs.
Wagner would come up with a run on back to back doubles by Joey and Carter Cournoyer in the 6th and Alexandria added a run in the 7th to go up by a 4-1 count.
In the bottom of the 7th Wagner had runners at the corners with two out and the wind and the rain starting to bear down, but a high pop fly to shallow centerfield was corralled by the shortstop ending the game.
Carter pitched 6.2 innings and allowed three runs, one earned, on six hits and two walks while striking out 13. Malakai Segura came on in relief and got his one out after giving up one earned run on two hits.
The two doubles by the Cournoyers were the only hits of the game for Wagner.
