75TH ANNIVERSARY: An Izaak Walton League of America began in October of 1925 in Bon Homme County as a Springfield Chapter chartering 21 members. That chapter combined their membership with a newly formed Bon Homme County Chapter Izaak Walton League. The chapter was accepted in May 1946 and recorded 45 charter members. There are currently 25 members in the local chapter for the year 2024. The local chapter’s clubhouse is located along the Missouri River off the Apple Tree Road where the trap and archery ranges are located in Bon Homme County. The 75th celebration was scheduled for the year 2021, but with the pandemic, it was put on hold. Members of the chapter gathered January 31 to honor the chapter’s anniversary. Guest speaker for the evening was Ron Hornstra who presented information about the history of the wind farms, Beethoven and Prevailing Winds, located north of Avon. Courtesy Photos
