HUNTER HARRINGTON’S MEMORIAL RIDE

By
Alyssa Mathis

The Hunter Ray Harrington’s Memorial Ride held their 4th annual eventSaturday September 30th, . Every year since the unexpected passing of their son, Hunter, Tim and Dionne Harrington of Armour have held an annual ride in his honor. Hunter’s dad, Tim, does all the planning for the event. Every year the route changes. Everyone meets in the Blue Moon parking lot at 10:30 am with the ride beginning at 11 am. This year’s route included the Dallas bar, Frank Days; the Herrick bar, Run of the Mill; Knotheads in Pickstown; and the last stop, the Armour Brewing Company in Armour.

Hunter was only 22 years old when he died suddenly from unknown causes. Hunter was a member of the Army National Guard and had just completed his basic training in South Carolina and his AIT in Virginia. He was living at home with his parents and working for Fousek’s Trucking in Armour. This has become a yearly event to help celebrate the life of Hunter and a way to honor his memory. A year before Hunter passed, Tim had bought a Harley motorcycle. Riding and Harley’s became a family passion. Hunter was planning to buy his own Harley before he passed. Unfortunately, Tim and Hunter were never able to ride together, but this is one way that Tim honors his son’s memory. Hunter’s sister, Bailey, and her husband, Jonathan, are also motorcycle enthusiasts that take part in the ride. Bailey has decals designed for the memorial ride by Apparel Worx to commemorate the yearly event.

The event has many motorcycle riders, but also classic and sports cars take part. Riders/participants range in age from five to 70 years of age. Although this is not a fundraiser, any donations received go to Hunter’s Memorial Scholarship Fund which gives out a yearly local scholarship. It was a beautiful day for a ride to honor a wonderful young man that left this world to soon.
