On May 6 and 7, Wagner took some athletes to compete in the Howard Wood Dakota Relays in Sioux Falls. This is the premier track and field event in the state as it pits competitors from all three classes as well as those from other states against each other.
Elizabeth Woods started things out by competing in the 100 hurdles and clocked a time of 16.76 seconds.
Alcista Dion ran the 100 dash and crossed the finish line in a time of 13.52 seconds.
The girls 4x200 relay consisting of Alcista Dion, Eve Zephier, Elizabeth Woods, and Shalayne Nagel ran a time of 1:52.66 to place 12th in class A as the relays are split up into classes.
The boys 4x800 relay consisting of Glen Cournoyer, Henry Hayward, Lael Young, and Riley Roberts ran a season best time of 8:47.29 placing 13th in class A.
Emma Yost competed in both the shot put and discus. On Friday she put the shot a distance of 35’ 3 ¾” and on Saturday she battled a tough wind to toss the discus a distance of 104’ 10”.
Ashlyn Koupal also competed in the high jump and leaped to height of 5’3” to claim 6th place overall.
