Health Occupation Student Association (HOSA) is an organization for students who are interested in the healthcare profession. Avon’s HOSA chapter, led by Kim Vellek, started doing ‘Skillbuilders' this year to introduce the students to the different occupations within the healthcare field.

Current skillbuilders include suturing, optometry, veterinary science, and dentistry. In these skillbuilders, the students do hands-on activities that the profession requires. The remaining skillbuilders left are pharmacy, casting, and nursing.

On March 3, the Avon HOSA chapter will have the opportunity to tour USD’s cadaver lab. The chapter also plans to do a behind-the-scenes tour at the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium at the beginning of May.
