Our other AHS Athlete of the Week is Hope Kemnitz, a junior wrestler at AHS. Hope started wrestling because of a family friend, and after her first all-girls open mat that she went to, she fell in love with the sport. Hope’s wrestling style is folkstyle, and her favorite takedowns are single leg and firemen’s. In Hope’s wrestling career, she has eighteen pins! None of her matches ended in overtime, and she made it to state her very first year of wrestling. In the off-season, Hope improves her wrestling routine by going to BEWA, which is a wrestling club. She also lifts everyday to get stronger for wrestling. When we asked who her favorite wrestlers were, she said Nash Hutmacher and Peyton Hellman. Hope said, “Peyton Hellman is one of my teammates and is ranked fourth nationally. She is always helping the girls on the team get better. She is such an inspiration for all the girl wrestlers, and one person I look up to in the wrestling world.” When Hope went to the state wrestling tournament, her favorite part was hanging out with her teammates and getting to wrestle.
