HEALTH & WELLNESS CONSORTIUM HOSTS FITNESS EVENTS

By

The Wagner Area Health & Wellness Consortium held the 6th annual Fitness Challenge in February. Participants could take part in the challenge in two categories: Individual Team Challenge with four-person teams and the Business Challenge. Points were earned by doing different intensities of physical activity in 20-minute increments.

The 2022 Business Champion of the February Fitness Challenge was Wagner Community Memorial Hospital-Avera with 110 points. All participating businesses did a great job! WCMH-A will have bragging rights and a traveling trophy will be dis played at their office for one year.

Taking first place in the Individual Team Challenge were the Gym Class Heroes team (Michelle Olson, Shay Mednansky, Reese Powers, Tobie Welch) with a total of 514 points. The team received Wagner Chamber Bucks for their efforts. Thank you to the teams that participated!

Upcoming in June will be the Consortium’s annual Best Dam VIRTUAL 5K during the week of June 5-11. This annual event was originally started in 2010 near the Ft. Randall Dam. In the past few years this has been held as a virtual event. Racers have the option of using the Ft. Randall Dam by Randall Creek route, or choosing a 5K route of their own any time during that week. Then they submit their time on the Wellness Consortium’s website.

The consortium is excited to offer these types of events as a great way to get some exercise and have fun! The mission of the consortium is to combine resources of each entity to maximize the health and wellness opportunities for Wagner and the surrounding communities. The consortium emphasizes family centered education and activities to promote improved health and wellness now and in the future.
