PSALM 96:1-7 1) "O sing unto the Lord a new song: sing unto the Lord, all the earth.
2) Sing unto the Lord, bless His name; shew forth His salvation from day to day.
3) Declare His glory among the heathen, His wonders among all people.
4) For the Lord is great, and greatly to be praised: He is to be feared above all gods.
5) For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.
6) Honor and majesty are before Him: strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.
7) Give unto the Lord, O ye kindreds of the people, give unto the Lord glory and strength."(KJV)
Verses 1 and 2) Instruct us to sing unto the Lord--Your salvation will show forth when you sing unto the Lord. Much better to sing Gospel music from your heart. Do you ever catch yourself singing a song of Glory to the Lord during the day? Your salvation will show.
Verse 3) Tells us to declare His glory among the heathen. To tell others of His glorious promise of forgiveness and of eternal life.
You can do this by living a righteous life before the heathen. They will see in you something they do not have. The Joy of being saved, as it shows to the heathen.
Verse 4) There is no doubt that the Lord is great and should be praised above all false gods.To be loved and honored and served.
Verse 5) States that anything other than the Lord is to be understood as an idol--such as prosperity, money, statues and so forth--they become gods to some but there is only one God and He was able to create the heavens and keep them in their place.
Verse 6) Honor above all things and majesty--for He in the Living God--His strength is greater than any other strength--His beauty is to behold--more beautiful than our eyes can imagine are in His sanctuary--Heavenly places.
Verse 7) Since He is Who He is--we should give Him the glory He deserves.
He keeps me singing, How about you?
