HAPPY NATIONAL 4-H WEEK!!

By

For over 100 years, South Dakotans of all ages have been loving 4-H! Each year, South Dakota 4-H reaches over 20% of our state's eligible youth with educational programs, activities, and contests to help build the next generation of South Dakota! Nationwide, over 6 million 4-H members participate in the program each year. This year we celebrate being Beyond Ready! Focusing on 3 pillars: Engaged, Healthy and Productive! All things that make 4-H what it is - the premier youth development organization in the country. Join by sharing your 4-H Love during National 4-H Week happening October 6-12, 2024!

South Dakota 4-H members learn life, leadership, social, and workforce skills that better prepare them for life after high school. To do this, 4-H relies on a team of over 1,700 volunteers that teach workshops, lead clubs, mentor youth, and give back to their communities. These adults work in partnership with youth to create programs that they need most.

By working with and listening to youth, South Dakota 4-H creates real opportunities for young people across our state, creating a space for learning, connecting, and belonging. We do this by bringing them together from all different backgrounds, creating one 4-H family! We offer programs in agriculture, food and nutrition, health and wellness, leadership, communication, science, technology, outdoor recreation, arts, and more. No matter what sparks your interest, 4-H can help you pursue your goals.

Charles Mix County 4-H, part of South Dakota 4-H, brings the mission of 4-H to your local community through a partnership between SDSU Extension and Charles Mix County government. Some of the highlights from our year include having a great county fair, successful workshops, school interactions, and fostering positive relationships.
