GRIND HOUSE 46 TO OPEN IN FEBRUARY
After prayer for direction and things falling into place, Kip and Amelia Spotted Eagle will be opening Grind House 46 in February.
Kip spent time in Spokane during high school and in the summers enjoyed coming home and spending time with his grandparents. While in Spokane he enjoyed the local coffee house while studying and after graduating he continued to enjoy various java huts in his travels.
Amelia grew up in Oklahoma and always enjoyed a good cup of coffee and espressos.
The culture of coffee has grown throughout the Midwest, there is even a coffee roaster in Bonesteel.
They talked about opening a coffee shop many times but when they found a coffee hut in Wayne, Nebraska for sale, things began to fall into place. After checking out the coffee building, 527 Brew House, they spent time researching, talking to friends and family and visited with the previous owner and their suppliers.
On their way home from Wayne they pulled over and prayed for direction. They felt if it was supposed to happen it would and if it didn’t, it wasn’t meant to be. The owner called and their dreams began to come true. They then visited with the Yankton Sioux Tribe and a lease was agreed upon.
Kip commented the guidance of Mike Frei at Commercial State Bank was the biggest help to him in helping to make the decision.
Kip’s sister, Brooke Spotted Eagle will be helping to train staffas she was a barista for several years while living in the northwest.
The coffee shack was custom built by Sand Creek Post and Beam.
Kip and Amelia plan to open mid February dependent upon equipment arriving. They are currently planning to start out being open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. with thoughts of eventually being open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
