Greer Unit #11 American Legion Auxiliary held their monthly meeting on November 21 at the Post Home with 14 members and two guests present.
The meeting was called to order by President Alyssa Mathis. Chaplain Margie Stone read the opening prayer. The Pledge of Allegiance and American Legion Auxiliary Preamble were recited in unison.
Presley Slaba gave a report on her week at Girls State in Vermillion this past spring. She was also presented a certificate and Girls State pin.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Treasurer's report was given. Motion to approve was made by Margie Stone, seconded by Kathy Geiman. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Kathy Geiman and seconded by Barbara Kucera for bills presented. Motion carried.
Correspondence was read from the District President Karen Rechlieu.
Thank yous were read from the following: Arlis Kafka - donation to Wagner Cancer Walk; Fischer House for donation; Sioux Falls VA System - donation for Christmas gifts; and Shane Clements - chaperone on Midwest Honor Flight.
Community Service chairman, Margie Stone reported that appropriate cards had been sent.
Membership chairman Barbara Kucera reported that we have 79 paid members. Goal is 82.
Motion was made by Bonnie Soukup, seconded by Margie stone to pay dues for three members that had not yet paid. Motion carried.
Continuous membership certificates were presented to members: 5 years - Rita Krcil, Amber Longe, and Jaiden Longe; 15 years - Eleanor Andersh, Leigh Anne Larson, and Kimberly Rogers; 20 years - Jolene Link, Talia Olson, and Bonnie Soukup; 25 years - Sylvia Beeson, Judith Cihak, Carol Kung, and Margie Stone; 35 years - Janelle Bastemeyer, Stephanie Carlson, Mary Kuhlman, Mary Jo McCoy, and LaRae Rogers; 40 years - Judy Nedved; and 45 years - Pamela Bastemeyer and Barbara Wiechmann.
Alyssa Mathis gave a report from the Fall District 8 meeting held on October 27.
Cookies were delivered to the Wagner Community School staff on November 19 for National Education week.
In place of a gift exchange, Auxiliary will bring food for the Wagner Food Pantry. The Auxiliary will also collect school supplies to be delivered to the school after the first of the year.
Auxiliary members will furnish a salad or dessert for the December meal on December 19.
Bonnie Soukup won the basket and donated it back to the Children and Youth Fund.
As there was no further business to come before the meeting, Chaplain Margie Stone read the prayer for peace and President Alyssa Mathis adjourned the meeting.
