Greer Unit #11 American Legion Auxiliary held their monthly meeting on October 17th, 2024 at the Post Home with 14 members present.
The meeting was called to order by President Alyssa Mathis. Chaplain Margie Stone read the opening prayer. The Pledge of Allegiance and American Legion Auxiliary Preamble were recited in unison.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Treasurer’s report was given. Motion to approve was made by Kathy Geiman, seconded by Barbara Kucera. Motion carried.
Kathy Geiman made a motion to pay the bills presented, seconded by Margie Stone. Motion carried.
Membership chairman, Barbara Kucera reported that we have 59 paid members. The goal is 82 members.
Correspondence was read from the District President, Karen Richlieu.
A thank you was received and read from the Sioux Falls VA.
Community Service chairman, Margie Stone, reported that the appropriate cards had been sent.
Scholarship committee members are Linda Youngbluth, Sandy Seiner, Juanita Stone and Shelby Mach. They will be setting up guidelines for the Wagner Auxiliary’s scholarships.
The Legion Auxiliary and Legion will be preparing and serving the Fellowship Feast meal on October 24, 2024 at the Methodist Church. Auxiliary members working are asked to wear their vests.
The District 8 Fall meeting will be held in Wagner on October 27, 2024 with social hour at 11 a.m.; lunch at 12 p.m.; and the meeting at 12:45 p.m. Auxiliary members will furnish salads and desserts for the lunch and are asked to be there by 10:30 a.m. to set up.
The Auxiliary now has a Facebook page with content and updates to be added to the site.
Veterans Day program will be held on November 11 at the Wagner Community School at 2 p.m. Auxiliary members attending are asked to wear their vests.
National Education Week is November 18-22. Auxiliary will furnish cookies to the staff at Wagner Community School on November 19.
Bonnie Soukup won the basket and donated it back to the children and youth fund.
As there was no further business to come before the meeting, Chaplain Margie Stone read the prayer for peace and President Alyssa Mathis adjourned the meeting.
