Greer Unit #11, American Legion Auxiliary held their monthly meeting May 16, at the Post Home with 14 members present.
The meeting was called to order by President Linda Youngbluth. The opening prayer was read by Chaplain Margie Stone. The Pledge of Allegiance and the American Legion Auxiliary Preamble were recited in unison. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was given by Barb Weichman and approved. Kathy Geiman made a motion to pay the bills that were presented, seconded by Alyssa Mathis. Motion carried.
Membership chairman, Barbara Kucera, reported that we have 80 paid members, with the goal being 85. Community Service Chairman, Margie Stone, reported appropriate cards have been sent to individuals who have lost a family member or who have been ill. Correspondence was read from the District 8 President Karen Richlieu. Alyssa Mathis made a motion to give a $300 scholarship to Jennifer Barnett as the Auxiliary State Representative, the motion was seconded by Barbara Wiechmann. Motion carried.
The poppy coloring pages and poster contest were judged with the following students winning.

Motion carried. Margie Stone made a motion to donate hams to the senior meals, seconded by Alyssa Mathis. Motion carried. Alyssa Mathis made a motion to the auxiliary to have the lunch stand for the Cancer Rummage Sale on June 12th, 13th and 14th. Motion carried. Discussed the things we will serve in the lunch stand. Discussion of the food that we will be serving in the lunch stand. Auxiliary members are asked to help furnish bars, kolaches, or rolls to serve at the lunch stand.
Auxiliary members are asked to furnish a salad or dessert for the lunch May 27 at the American Legion after the Memorial Day service at the Armory.
There was an election for the following officers: President, Alyssa Mathis was nominated by Rita Remme, motion carried. Vice-President, Juanita Stone nominated by Margie Stone. Motion carried. Parliamentarian, Kathy Geiman nominated by Barb Kucera. Motion carried. Kathy Geiman made a motion that all other officers will remain the same as last year. Motion carried.
State Convention will be held June 20-24 in Pierre at the Ramkota. Delegates will be: Barb Kucera, Kathy Geiman, Alyssa Mathis and Jeanette Fuchs. Alternates will be Dolores Kotab, Barb Weichman, Margie Stone and Marlene Stone.
The basket was won by Alyssa Mathis and donated back to the children and youth fund.
There being no further business to come before the meeting, President, Linda Youngbluth, adjourned the meeting.
