Greer Unit #11 American Legion Auxiliary

Greer Unit #11, American Legion Auxiliary met on October 20, 2022 at the post home with 16 members present.

President Linda Youngbluth called the meeting to order. Chaplin Margie Stone read the opening prayer. The pledge of allegiance and Auxiliary Preamble were recited in unison.

Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read.

Treasurer's report was given and approved.

Bills were presented for a roll of stamps and gifts for veterans. Kathy Geiman made a motion to pay the bills. Motion was seconded and carried.

Membership chairman Barbara Kucera reported that we have 49 paid memberships. Goal is 77.

Correspondence was read from the District President Karen Richelieu.

Community Service chairman, Margie Stone reported appropriate cards had been sent.

Motion was made for Kathy Geiman to order poppies. Motion was seconded and carried.

Motion was made by Juanita Stone to give a donation to the Backpack Program. Motion was seconded and carried.

Alyssa Mathis made a motion to pay the balance short on dues for a member. Motion seconded and carried.

Barbara Kucera made a motion to pay dues for members in the nursing home each year. Motion seconded and carried.

Motion was made by Juanita Stone to purchase candy for the Halloween Party at the nursing home. Motion seconded and carried.

Margie Stone made a motion to furnish cookies for all staff of Wagner Community School for Education Week-November 14-18, 2022. Motion was seconded and carried.

Thank you was read from the Midwest Honor Flight for the donation sent to them. Dolores Kotab thanked members for nominating her to represent our unit for Legionette of the year at the State Convention.

The District meeting is on October 23, 2022 in Wakonda.

There will be a Veteran's Day program at the Wagner School on November 11, 2022. All Auxliliary members planning to attend are asked to wear their vests with white blouses.

The basket was won by Rita Krcil. She donated it back to the Children's and Youth fund.

There being no further business to come before the meeting, Chaplin Margie Stone read the prayer for peace and President Linda Youngbluth adjourned the meeting.
