Greer Unit #11 American Legion Auxiliary
Greer Unit #11 American Legion Auxiliary held their monthly meeting October 19 at the Post Home with 14 members and two guests present. The meeting was called to order by President Linda Youngbluth. Chaplain Margie Stone read the opening prayer. The pledge of allegiance and American Legion Auxiliary Preamble were recited in unison.
The treasurer's report was given and approved.
Jenny Barnett gave a report on her week at Girls State this summer.
Motion by Juanita Stone and seconded by Dolores Kotab to pay bills presented. Motion carried.
Membership chairman Barbara Kucera reported we have 49 paid members, goal is 80.
Correspondence was read by District President Karen Richilieu.
Thank you's were read from Midwest Honor Flight and Charles Mix Historical Society for donations sent to them.
Community Service Margie Stone reported appropriate cards had been sent.
Motion by Alyssa Mathis, seconded by Dolores Kotab to send money from lunch stand at Cancer Rummage Sale to the Wagner Cancer Walk. Motion carried.
Motion by Alyssa Mathis to submit poppy order. Motion carried.
National Education week is November 12-17. Auxiliary will furnish for cookies to staff at Wagner Community School on November 14.
Motion by Alyssa Mathis, seconded by Margie Stone that Legion Auxiliary will be a fill in for Fellowship Meal when there is a month when no group is serving. Motion carried.
Veterans Day Service will be held at Wagner Community School. Auxiliary members attending are asked to wear their vest with a white blouse and dark slacks.
Fall District 8 meeting will be held October 22 at Springfield. Delegates will be Juanita Stone, Linda Youngbluth and Kathy Geiman.
Thanksgiving cards will be sent to Auxiliary members and Veterans in nursing homes.
The basket was won by Dolores Kotab and donated back to the Children and Youth Fund.
The Auxiliary charter was draped in memory of Mary Cimple by President Linda Youngbluth and Chaplin Margie Stone.
As there was no further business to come before the meeting, Chaplin Margie Stone read the prayer for peace and President Linda Youngbluth adjourned the meeting.
