Greer Unit #11 American Legion Auxiliary
Greer Unit #11 American Legion Auxiliary held their monthly meeting on September 21, 2023 at the post home with 13 members present.
The meeting was called to order by President Linda Youngbluth. Chaplain Margie Stone read the opening prayer. The Pledge of Allegiance and American Legion Auxiliary Preamble were recited in unison.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The treasurer's report was given and approved.
Correspondence was read from the district president Karen Richelieu.
Membership chairman Barbara Kucera reported that we have 20 paid members. Goal is 30.
Thank you's were read from Life Quest Greer Unit #11 Legion, Berkahak House, and Ronald McDonald House for donations sent to them. President Linda Youngbluth thanked auxiliary members who helped in Legion lunch stand on Labor Day weekend.
Certificate for the Dictionary Program has been received. Dictionaries to the 3rd grade classes in Marty and Wagner have been presented by Auxiliary representatives.
Community Service Chairman Margie Stone reported appropriate cards had been sent.
Motion by Barbara Kucera, seconded by Lisa Bambas to spend funds from the Brats feed to Honor flight. Motion carried.
Motion by Juanita Stone, seconded by Barbara Kucera to submit funds to the following obligations: Dept. Convention Proceedings, National Convention Assessment, Junior donation, past President Parley, Treasurer Bond, Auxiliary Emergency Fund, Christmas Rehabilitation, Personal Care items, showers, April Dime showers, president project, creative art festival, child welfare donation, child welfare scholarship and postage for mailing gift shop. Motion carried Motion by Juanita Stone, seconded by Carol Tolliver to send donations to the Wagner Historical Society and Tiny Homes Project in Sioux Falls. (This program is for homeless veterans). Motion carried Linda Youngbluth will be delivering gifts for the Christmas gift shop at Human Services Center this next week.
The District 8 Fall meeting will be held on October 22, 2023.
Rita Krcil won the basket and donated it back to the Children and Youth Fund.
As there was no further business to come before the meeting, Chaplin Margie stone read the prayer for peace and President Linda Youngbluth adjourned the meeting.
