Greer Unit #11 American Legion Auxiliary held their monthly meeting on December 19 at the Post home with 10 members present.
The meeting was called to order by President Alyssa Mathis. Chaplain Margie Stone read the opening prayer. The Pledge of Allegiance and American Legion Auxiliary Preamble were recited in unison.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Treasurer’s report was given by Barb Weichmann. Kathy Geiman made the motion to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried.
Membership report was given; we have 84 paid members with our goal being 82.
Community Service Chairman Margie Stone reported appropriate cards had been sent to those who were ill, had surgeries, or who had family members pass away.
Scholarship money will be given to Jennifer Barnett as she starts her second semester of college for being our 2023 Girls State Delegate.
A committee was created to review the unit’s by-laws and constitution. Members of this committee are Alyssa Mathis, Barbara Wiechmann, and Lisa Schoenfelder.
It was decided that at the next meeting members would bring items for care packages for those deployed or who recently began their military service and are in their advanced individual trainings.
We appreciate the Auxiliary members that donated food for the Wagner ROCS food pantry, school supplies for Wagner Community School students, and those who brought salads and desserts for December’s dinner.
Sandy Seiner won the basket and donated the money back to the Children and Youth Fund.
As there was no further business to come before the meeting, Chaplain Margie Stone read the Prayer for Peace and President Alyssa Mathis adjourned the meeting.
