Greer Post #11 American Legion Auxiliary

Greer Unit #11, American Legion Auxiliary met on March 17, 2022 at the post home with 15 members and 2 guests present.

Prior to the meeting, Auxiliary served the March meal and presented the post with a beautifully decorated cake in honor of the American Legion’s 103rd Birthday.

Call to order the meeting was called to order by President Juanita Stone. Chaplain Margie Stone gave the opening prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and Auxiliary Preamble recited in unison.

Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read

Treasurer: Linda Y: The treasures report was given and approved with explanation of a voided check

Barbara Kucera: Membership: we have 75 paid members. Goal is 77.

Correspondence was read from District President Ruth Williams as well as a report on Midwinter Conference from Carol Edwards.

Margie Stone: Community Service appropriate cards had been sent.

Unfinished business

Thank you to all who furnished salads for the Post’s birthday.

Delegates to District 8 Meeting on March 20th in Marion are Dolores Kotab, Greer Unit’s Member of the Year, Linda Youngbluth and Juanita Stone.

Kathryn Doom, daughter of Todd and Amy Doom will represent Greer Unit #11 at Girls State which will be held May 30th to June 4th at the USD campus.

New Business:

Congratulations to Dolores Kotab, Greer Unit # 11 Unit Member of the year. We can count of her to step up and help in all capacities of our Unit.

Poem: “Smile” 3rd Grade: 1st place Jackson Woods, 2nd place Aspyn Schroeder. They will receive monetary awards.

Soup and sandwich day/bake sale and annual raffle plans were finalized. Alyssa M. passed out posters to be placed in local businesses. Please return the raffle tickets to Treasurer, Linda Y prior to the 31st for the drawing. Would appreciate deserts as well as items for the bake sale and of course workers.

Barbara Wiechmann won the money basket and donated it to the Children and Youth fund.

As there was no further business to come before the meeting, the charter was draped in memory of Janet Koupal. Chaplin Margie Stone read the prayer for peace and President Juanita Stone adjourned the meeting.
